Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

Hmm… some developments since my last casual post.  Let’s see – I have started and completed Eternal Sonata, started and completed Lego Harry Potter, continued Big Bang Mini, finished Age of Mythology, and started Neverwinter Nights.

This week I was thwarted in my desire to begin playing Heavy Rain, by the Playstation Network’s forced Version 2.0 update – which patched my non-Move version to the Move version.  After doing a bit of a scout on the internetz, I saw that the Move version is pretty good, so I’ve added Move to my Xmas wishlist, and will play Heavy Rain later on.

So.  I decided it was well past time I got on and actually finished Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.  I have started that game about six times, and just haven’t gotten round to completing it.  Thankfully, I have a strategy guide with lots of nice pictures, so I can speed through it.  My desire to play TRTLR is fuelled by a recent visit to the Game On 2.0 exhibition and seeing TR Underworld on display.  I really want to play that, but I am a sequentionist as well as a  completionist, so I really prefer to play games in order.

I started playing a few days ago, and after getting used to the very clunky controls which seemed fluid back in the day, I am zooming through.  I have visited the Sacred Lake for the first time, and it occurred to me, “I haven’t gotten this far before!”  Now, this is pretty early in the game, so heaven knows what stopped me the other six times I started playing TRTLR!  I’m totally determined now though – just have to brush up on my rope skills – I really suck.  Have to save every time I start a rope swing, because I invariably fall to my death.  I need an extra thumb to hit the jump button…

Ah, nostalgia!  I love that I can play PS1 games on my PS3 without having to be banished to the games room…
